A breast lift, or mastopexy, raises and reshapes breasts that have descended. It removes stretched excess skin, tightens the remaining tissue into a firmer shape, and repositions the nipple to a natural height. Size stays roughly the same. Position and shape are what change.
A lift is worth considering if:
A simple test: if your nipple sits at or below the crease under your breast, a lift is usually the right operation. If you also want more fullness, ask about a lift with implants.
Incision patterns depend on how much lift you need. Some patients need only an incision around the areola. Most benefit from the lollipop pattern, around the areola and vertically down. Dr. Goel reshapes the internal tissue first, so the result is supported from within rather than relying on skin alone. That is what makes a lift last.
Expect soreness and swelling for the first week, with most patients returning to work in about a week. A supportive surgical bra is worn for several weeks. The shape refines over two to three months as tissues settle.
A Keck School of Medicine graduate and former Chief Resident at UC Irvine, Dr. Goel builds his lifts on internal support, not skin tension. The result is a shape that holds.
Only slightly, if at all. A small amount of skin is removed, but the breast tissue stays.
Scars are the trade for shape. They fade significantly over 12 to 18 months, and most patients consider the exchange well worth it.
Many years. Stable weight and good support help preserve it. Future pregnancy can change the result.
